The Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine is the fourth batch of key specialists in traditional Chinese medicine in Shandong Province. It was established in 1974. It is a clinical professional department integrating medical treatment, health care, scientific research, and teaching. It has a teaching and research office of TCM and undertakes the teaching tasks of traditional Chinese medicine at Taishan Medical University. The Department currently has 9 medical staff, including 3 chief physicians and professors, 3 deputy chief physicians and associate professors, 3 attending physicians and lecturers, 2 physicians with doctor’s degree, and 3 with master’s degree.
The first director of the Chinese Medicine Section was Prof. Li Hua'an, who made significant contributions to the preparation and development of traditional Chinese medicine. The second director, Professor Wang Honghai, led all the staff from the Department to establish Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Discipline of Taishan Medical University in 2003. The current director, Professor Li Xiangqi, is a member of the Standing Committee of the Chinese Surgical Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, a member of the Breast Disease Committee of the Chinese Traditional Medicine Society, deputy chairman of the Surgical Department of the Shandong Society of Chinese Medicine, and deputy chairman of the Oncology Surgery of the Taian Cancer Society.
The scope of diagnosis and treatment of traditional Chinese medicine is mainly in internal medicine (heart, brain, kidney, liver and gallbladder, spleen and stomach, lung disease), TCM surgery (breast, thyroid, appendix, lithiasis), TCM gynecology (menstruation, pregnancy care, postpartum recovery), TCM Pediatrics (Pediatric common diseases, pediatric massage), infertility and other infertility.
The Department is good at adopting the unique theory of traditional Chinese medicine and modern Western medicine combined with advanced diagnosis and treatment techniques to common diseases, frequently-occurring diseases and miscellaneous diseases in various systems such as coronary heart disease, diabetes, nephropathy, sequelae of stroke, chronic hepatitis B, liver Hardened ascites, chronic pancreatitis, gynecological misdiagnosis, infertility and other syndrome differentiation treatment to achieve better results; the treatment for some common tumors, such as breast cancer, thyroid cancer, stomach cancer, rectal cancer, prostate cancer, uterine muscle Tumors, ovarian cysts, cervical cancer, etc. by traditional Chinese medicines, Western medicine, radiotherapy and chemotherapy achieved good results.
The Department undertook more than 1000 academic hours of the teaching tasks of Taishan Medical University. At the same time, it actively developed clinical research works. In recent years, it has undertaken 1 national natural science fund project, 2 provincial-level research projects, 3 school-level research projects, and published 3 books and more than 20 papers in national and provincial level magazines.
