Emergency Medicine

The Department of Emergency Medicine was established in 1974. In 1994, the Teaching and Research Office of Department of Emergency Medicine was established. In 2011, emergency medicine master's degree program was approved. The Department was composed of pre-hospital emergency care, intensive care unit (EICU), emergency ward, emergency medical research center, poisoning rescue counseling center, etc., it is a key clinical specialty in Shandong Province, Shandong Provincial Key Laboratory of clinical medicine poisoning research, national and Shandong Province Emergency Medicine Residency Standardization Training Base, Shandong Emergency Emergency Specialist Nurse Training Base, Taian Medical Key Discipline, Tai'an City Acute Chemical Poisoning Treatment Training Base. It worked as Deputy Director Unit of Shandong Provincial Medical Association, Association of Chinese and Western Medicine, Chinese Medicine Society, Physicians' Association, Preventive Medicine Association, Toxicological Society, Hospital Management Association, and Director Unit of Tai'an Medical Association Emergency Medicine Committee. It was awarded as Provincial Youth Civilization Unit, “Three Goods and One Satisfaction” Advanced Unit and “Women Pioneer Demonstration Post” at the municipal level. It is currently a member of the Asian Emergency Relief Organization and an international emergency rescue network unit.

 

The Department is equipped with emergency waiting room, emergency surgery, pediatric emergency room, emergency outpatient clinic, chest pain center and other professional waiting areas. The area is divided into emergency rescue area, intensive care area, emergency ward area, adult infusion room, pre-hospital emergency and emergency department according to function. Laboratory, clinical poisoning research key laboratory, emergency shooting, emergency pharmacy, emergency operating room, emergency office area, etc., which can offer one-stop emergency services. The Department has a strong qualified medical staff team. There are more than 110 medical staff in this department, including 4 chief physicians and professors, 6 deputy chief physicians, 6 associate professors, 10 attending physicians, 3 master supervisors, 2 physicians with doctor degree, 19 physicians with master degree, and 3 physicians had oversea study experiences. Equipped with international advanced ventilator, continuous blood purification instrument, intra-aortic balloon counterpulsation instrument (IABP), extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), cerebral oxygen monitor, coma/EEG/muscle monitor, gas phase Chromatography poison detector, POCT, hemodynamic monitor, multi-function monitor, fiberoptic bronchoscope, bedside ultrasound, mobile DR, ECG monitoring defibrillator, temporary cardiac pacemaker, Cardiopulmonary resuscitation instrument, cooling instrument, microinjection pump and infusion pump, gastric lavage machine, debridement machine, electrocardiograph, automatic blood gas analyzer, and other organ function monitoring and support equipment, 8 ambulances (5 Vehicles with monitoring function), all of these ensured the smooth development of emergency services.

 

The Department’s successive directors are: Wen Yunyi, Li Yuanzheng, Kong Fanting, and Shi Jixue. After more than 40 years development, with generations of emergency staff's unremitting efforts, it established an emergency medical service system that integrates pre-hospital emergency care, internal emergency care and intensive care monitoring together. It established a highly effective green channel to the patients.

 

The Department had rich experience in the treatment of acute poisoning which had achieved outstanding results. It adopted multi-dimensional treatment of physical detoxification, special antidote assault dose therapy, early sequential mechanical ventilation and blood purification to the treatment of critical acute pesticide poisoning which made the fatality rate fell below 3%, ranking the domestic advanced level; it has experience in treating paraquat poisoning and rodenticide poisoning which saved a large number of dying patients and received widely praise from the public. The rescue success rate of cardiac arrest, shock of various causes, acute cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, acute upper gastrointestinal bleeding reached over 96%. It took the lead in carrying out an ECG-guided bedside endocardial emergency temporary cardiac pacing procedure, Non-invasive and Invasive Mechanical Ventilation, Sequential Blood Purification, Mild Hypothermia, Visual Laryngoscope, Noninvasive and Invasive Hemodynamic Monitoring, Percutaneous Puncture Emergency Tracheostomy, Transfemoral Intra-Aortic Balloon Pressurization, IABP, ECMO, and perfusion through the carotid artery which have greatly increased the rescue success rate. The green channel for early thrombolysis has saved many patients with acute myocardial infarction, cerebral thrombosis and acute pulmonary embolism. The early diagnosis and treatment of severe multiple trauma patients created conditions for surgical treatment and improved the success rate of treatment.
