Our Hospital Held World Glaucoma Week Public Welfare Activities

The 11th "World Glaucoma Week" was held from March 11th to 18th, 2018. The theme of this year's event was "Early Inspection, Monitoring and Protecting Our Eyes." In order to popularize the basic knowledge of glaucoma, increase the awareness of glaucoma, and reduce the rate of glaucoma blindness, our hospital has organized glaucoma knowledge lectures and free medical consultations and other public welfare activities to measure intraocular pressure and vision for the masses.

On the afternoon of March 14th, Teng Yufang, deputy director of Ophthalmology, and Wang Li, head nurse of Ophthalmology, gave lectures on the topic of “glaucoma prevention and treatment” in demonstration room of Ophthalmology Department. They answered questions raised by patients during the interaction between doctors and patients.

On the morning of March 16, Ophthalmology organized a glaucoma free medical consultation in the outpatient building lobby of the hospital. During the event, the experts carefully examined every patient who came to the spot and conducted an education on how to prevent glaucoma and improve their health awareness.

Through lectures and on-site free medical consultations, people's understanding of glaucoma has been improved. More people have realized that the pathogenesis of glaucoma is occult and seriously harmful to our eyes. At the same time, as long as patients actively cooperate with the doctor's treatment and do regular follow-up observations, they can reduce the risk of it.
